Political parties are the worst thing to have ever happened to this country. The only thing they've ever accomplished is polarizing the American people, government, and making it impossible to ever reach comprimises. Nobody ever wants to look at things from both sides of the fence anymore, it's just a "I'm right, you're wrong" mentality for both you Repugs and DemoRats. (Ok, I'm sorry. I had to use those terms just once. Please don't kill me).
For those of you who are curious about what I have to say, I'm mostly attacking the far-left and far-right wings of the parties. Those of you who actually find faults in your own parties, are fine in my book.
Let's start with the Republicans first. How far you guys have fallen. When Barry Goldwater lost the election back in '64, it all just went downhill from there. Now, instead of practicing the idea of limited government, you preach it, while simultaneously trying to ratify an amendment that takes away the rights of a particular group of people. So you want limited government, but you want the government involved in marriage? Oh yeah, that doesn't sound hypocritical at all. You preach, but you haven't practiced in a long time.
While we're on that subject, why do you freely associate yourselves with extreme, far to the right evengelicals? Nobody shares the opinions of these people. Hell, I'd say out of all the Christian Americans in this country, only 5% actually agree with them. And Fox News? The only reason most conservative minded people watch that program is because it's the only thing that even comes close to representing their political ideals. As most conservatives will tell you, "Meh. It's better than nothing."
And please, stop being so exclusive. Don't be afraid of diversity and different religions. They do not bite.
Now the Democrats. If there's one thing I like about you guys, it's the idealism and optimism you generally share. But damn you guys are flawed. Those Hollywood people and the extremely vocal far-left borderline communists make you guys look like snobs. Though a lot of the far-right Republicans are pretty snobby too, you guys do it in a completely different way.
A lot of you go around, preaching acceptance for different ideas, opinions, people, lifestyles, etc. but whenever someone doesn't agree with you, you jump down their throats calling them every name in the book. But wait, what happened to peace and tolerance? Can't people have different opinions and still have intelligent, civil conversations that end with "Well, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree."? I guess not. A lot of you just lose any credibility you have once phrases like these are dropped. "Stupid repugs, you should all die!" How mature.
Then there are your policies. Sheesh. A lot of you preach big government, and I find that just a tad ironic. You, no matter who's in office, complain about the government being stupid and ruining your lives (like the Republicans) while also saying that the government should have more involvement in your lives. What? If the government ruins everything, why do you want it to be bigger? It makes no sense! At least work on your consistency with your ideals.
With that said, try to find things you have in common. You both hate each other, you both have flawed policies, you both have a ton of stupid people voting for you, and neither of you really truly listen to the American people.
And that's my rant. Yes I'm an independent, no I do not believe that every Republican or Democrat is like the ones I complained about. While we're on politics, I firmly believe that no matter who wins this November, things will certainly change for the better. And, to make fun of myself here, we independents are pretty crazy and snobby too. We just like to think we're the lesser of 3 evils.
So guys, there you go. Feel free to discuss. I'm too lazy to proofread, so forgive any grammar errors (if any).
